Installation
Installing your eSIM
Pick your phone below. The whole thing takes about two minutes — but do it before you fly, not after.
Install before you travel, on Wi-Fi. Downloading the profile needs an internet connection. If you wait until you land, you may have no way to get online to do it.
Don't delete the profile. An eSIM can normally only be installed once. If you remove it from the phone it usually cannot be recovered.
Guides by device
- Connect to Wi-Fi.
- Open Settings → Mobile Service (or Cellular).
- Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code.
- Scan the QR code from your confirmation email. If you're reading the email on the same phone, tap Enter Details Manually and paste the activation code instead.
- Label the plan something you'll recognise — 'Tyigo Japan' rather than 'Secondary'.
- When asked which line to use for mobile data, choose the new one only after you land.
Once you've landed
- Switch the Tyigo line on.
- Turn data roaming ON for the Tyigo line — it needs to be on, even though you aren't roaming in the everyday sense. This is the step people miss.
- Set the Tyigo line as your mobile data line.
- Turn data roaming OFF on your usual SIM, so it can't run up a bill in the background.
- Restart the phone if you still have no signal after a couple of minutes.
Still no connection?
Send us your order reference and a photo of your phone's SIM settings screen. It's almost always a switch in the wrong position, and we can spot it in one look.
